Build a source inventory for a football article

A reader should be able to trace the important claims.

The historical context

For each article, list the sources that establish its central facts and identify the role each one plays. An official chronology may support a date, a roster biography a career milestone and an attributed recollection a personal evaluation. Keep your own analysis separate so the inventory does not imply that every conclusion appears in the original documents.

A clearer way to read the evidence

Link the source beside the relevant claim where practical, and retain the document identity in your working notes. Record corrections and unresolved questions explicitly. The existing player and team archive remains a separate resource on this site; a new editorial guide should lead readers to evidence rather than replace records with an unsupported summary.

Keep in your notes

  • Match central claims to sources.
  • Separate analysis from source facts.
  • Record open questions and corrections.
