Watch beyond the highlight when context is available

A selected moment is part of a larger game.

The historical context

A highlight presents a chosen moment. To understand how it fits within a contest, look for the surrounding sequence and verified result where those materials are available. This is an editorial viewing method, not a claim that a particular archive clip is misleading. Selection and game context simply answer different questions.

A clearer way to read the evidence

Write what the highlight establishes, then list what you would need to understand the wider situation. Avoid filling a missing lead-in with a familiar story. If you only have the selected clip, say so and keep your conclusion within that evidence. A strong historical account can use a memorable moment without pretending that the moment contains the whole game.

Keep in your notes

  • Record the selected moment.
  • Seek the surrounding sequence.
  • Keep conclusions within available footage.
